This week, as I’ve been reading through Romans 1–3, something has really struck me: without accepting God’s grace, we can’t truly experience the peace He offers.

All my life, I’ve wrestled with the feeling that I’m not worthy. How could I really be clean, really be forgiven? How could I stand before God and feel acceptable? I’ve tried to fix myself, to make up for the ways I’ve fallen short, but the truth is… I can’t. No amount of trying, no amount of good works, can make me whole.

That’s what Romans reminds me. In chapter 3, Paul writes, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23–24). This isn’t about what I can do; it’s about what He has done. Grace is a gift. Peace isn’t earned.

I’m slowly realizing that by holding back and trying to fix myself, I’ve been keeping myself from the peace that God wants me to have. When I accept His grace, it’s not a license to stop striving to live well—it’s the starting point. The faith I have in Him is what allows the Holy Spirit to work in me. I want to do good works because He’s changing me from the inside out, not because I’m trying to earn His love.

Jesus died for us. He bore the penalty I could never pay. That truth doesn’t just inform my head—it’s changing my heart. It’s teaching me that real peace comes when I let go of the need to “fix” myself and simply accept the gift that was freely given.

Takeaway for Reflection / Journaling

Take a few minutes to reflect or write about this:

What areas of your life are you trying to “fix” on your own? How can you start accepting the grace God is offering in these areas? What does it feel like to let go of striving and rest in His peace?

Even a small step toward truly receiving grace can open your heart to the peace that God has been waiting to give all along.

💬 I’d love to hear from you: if this resonates, feel free to leave a comment below. Let’s talk about what accepting grace looks like in your life and encourage each other to rest in His peace.
